This is a 4 hour walking tour where will visit Puerta de Alcalá, Cibeles Fountain, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, Royal Palace, Catedral de la Almudena, etc. This will give you a general idea of what Madrid is like: architecture, culture, traditions, lifestyle, cuisine, etc. . . If you wish, we can also include a museum (like the Prado or Reina Sofia) or the Royal Palace. With me, you always skip the lines.

Essential Madrid with airport pick up

Itinerary:

If you have a long layover in Madrid I can pick you up at the airport and bring you back. A 4 hour tour (including the transfers) to show you the highlights of the city. This will give you a general ideal of what Madrid is like: architecture, culture, traditions, etc. . .

Prado Museum

Considered the best painting museum in the world, it is located very close to the Thyssen and Reina Sofía Museums in the area called “The Triangle of Art”. Besides the collection of Spanish artists like El Greco, Velázquez or Goya, it also houses many Italian, Flemish and French master pieces.

Reina Sofía Museum

This is the  museum dedicated to contemporary art in Madrid. Its collection comprises masterpieces from Spanish painters like Joan Miró, Dalí or Picasso as well as other foreign artists. It holds the famous “Gernika” from Pablo Picasso.

Thyssen Museum

This museum has the best private collection of the 20th century. To walk through this museum is like going through an Art History lesson. If you happen to like Impresionism, this is definitely your museum.

Sorolla Museum

Probably one of the most beautiful and unknown museums in Madrid. Dedicated to the famous painter from Valencia, it is located in the house where he lived in Madrid. Admire some of his most important works. The building itself is worth the visit.

Royal Palace

Built in the 18th century, it is considered the best furnished palace in Europe as it preserves most of its original decoration. Used today only for official ceremonies it was the royal residence until 1931.
